Dubai Customs kicks off Innovation Mondial

Dubai Customs kicks off its Innovation Mondial with the participation of 200 people in 20 teams who will compete to come up with a creative impactful initiative in line with Dubai 10X-2.0 project.

The Mondial competitions start on 22 and end on 26 April. There are 20 international experts, plus futuristic firms, leading government entities and strategic partners and clients of Dubai Customs along with the Department’s directors and employees.

The Mondial aims at enhancing the culture of innovation and helping participants come up with disruptive ideas to face the future challenges in support of Dubai’s vision of helping the emirate moving ten years ahead of other cities.

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs said:” Recently, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai announced a number of innovations submitted by government departments to maintain Dubai’s leading world position and attract more foreign investments.

He added: “Dubai Customs had its share of these innovations. Mutual recognition agreements are signed for the Authorized Economic Operator which helps in fast clearance of cargo to facilitate trade in support of Dubai Plan 2021 and the other UAE strategies and objectives.

Terms like artificial intelligence, block chain, and 4th industrial revolution are becoming daily terms and regularly used by the government thanks to the wise vision of our leadership. The launch of the UAE Blockchain Strategy by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai will help the government save AED 11 Billion and puts us in the midst of advanced technological revolution which we expect will help make the lives of our next generations better based on the strategies of the UAE Centennial 2071 project”.

Musabih pointed out that Dubai Customs has a long standing experience in innovation and service development. It has an active innovation and suggestion system and an innovation center which helps develop the internal talent and competencies. The Department received 26.028 ideas and suggestions since the door was opened to suggestions in 2004. These ideas helped generate AED 1.7B.

On his part, Ahmed Abdul Salam Kazim, Director of Strategy and Corporate Excellence said:” We, at Dubai Customs, work hard to achieve the best results inspired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai who taught us that innovation is a necessity and not a luxury, and the UAE views it as a future necessity and not just a media hype. This is why Dubai Customs arranges this Mondial which also comes in line with the launch of the new version of 10X initiative – 10X-2.0 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council”.
